COURSES AND PAINTING HOLIDAYS

For the last 10 years or more I have run painting courses for both beginners and improvers locally and outdoor summer painting evenings. In addition I also run 3 to 5 day residential painting holidays in the Cotswolds, Cornwall, Northern Mallorca and more recently in Brittany and Croatia.

My approach is to encourage participants through demonstration, personal tuition and critique, I lay emphasis on the value of sketching to help with composition and establishing the tonal values prior to completing the painting. I also use pen and wash as a valuable process for gathering information or as a final painting. For certain subjects I find watercolour and gouash on a mid toned paper to be very effective.

I tend to work with small groups of 4/8 participants, which enables me to give more personal attention. It also means that we all get to know each other better and can offer mutual support.

The courses and holidays are great fun for all concerned and we make the most of our time together.
